Vibeeng School has a star-shaped design that embraces the entire site and the surrounding, beautiful landscape. At the same time, the pulsating centre of the characteristic star shape is the core heart room. Here, arrival, assembly and distribution spaces for all school activities are located, serving the 500 pupils at the three-form school, which covers grades from kindergarten up to 6th. This is where the school gets its energy – and the central point where you go to be inspired by others.

Furthermore, the school is characterised by its red exterior and the different bends on the roof surface, which creates ridge-like motifs in the façade and spatial variation inside. At the same time, the varying roof surface provides the optimum basis for solar panels and north-facing light openings, which help make it a low-energy class 1 school.
The landscape is up close, integrating the exterior with the interior. For instance, outside the home economics room, a vegetable garden is set up, and outside the crafts and design room, there is a crafts yard. Small platforms are also placed in the landscape where learning and playing can take place in outdoor spaces, rich in experiences. The many activities offered by the 42,000 m² area are accessible for children, youth and adults, and that is where the entire local community meets today.
The variation in the outdoor areas is also evident in the school interior, where many different divisions provide different options for each pupil, while acting as a tool for the teacher in learning contexts. Here, you find everything from traditional classrooms, small caves, niches, lofts and several common rooms with large learning steps that can be used for assembly purposes. As a consequence, the school is characterised by a wealth of surprises, and you can always find a spot that suits each pupil’s mood or learning situation. A public school that cares for its pupils, where learning is good and easy, and where teachers and pupils can be happy.
