The energy and technology building, University of Bergen

Science City Bergen had a clear vision: A new university building capable of supporting interdisciplinary cooperation between academic research and industry. A new international innovation cluster for energy, climate and technology. The building should also be integrated in the city as a house for students, scientists, industry and the average Bergen resident.

"Forskerparken" will link the existing university buildings with EnTek

The existing university is a so-called city university, and given its central location at Nygårdshøyden, it boasts a distinct and visible identity in the city. An identity that EnTek will build on by establishing a new shared urban space, Forskerparken, which will link the existing university buildings with EnTek, and which will be located at the end of the university axis, thereby supporting and highlighting the new research cluster. The city will also be invited to enter by establishing a diagonal path that intersects the new university complex, providing access to the university via entrances at different storeys. The building will be located as close to the building as possible to stress the project’s status as Bergen’s new science quarter. In the southern part of the complex, as many public functions as possible will be established, including spaces for presentation and teaching, innovation lab, open common areas and entrance to the arrival area.

Inside, EnTek will accommodate a number of flexible, varying areas abundant with daylight. Here, you will find everything from cellular offices and open-plan offices to more closed lab spaces. Rooms that promote concentration, research and innovation.
