We bear excellent news! ‘Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital’ wins gold in the Future Healthcare category at the World Architecture News Awards.
“Though a large-scale hospital it achieves an atmosphere of belonging and a homely feeling, which is needed in a children’s hospital,”- WAN Awards Judging Panel.
“This is a recognition of a design that goes beyond the conventional. We take immense pride in designing this innovative children's hospital that prioritizes the therapeutic power of play in medical care in close co-creation with 3XN,” explains Birgitte Gade Ernst, Partner and Director at Arkitema.
Breaking away from conventional layouts and volumes common in many hospitals, this design creates a welcoming atmosphere and a strong natural flow for easy wayfinding, contributing to reducing stress for both patients and staff.
The collaborative efforts of 3XN/GXN, Arkitema, and NIRAS are spearheading the vision and realization of this groundbreaking project.
