At Arkitema, we work for a range of customers and market segments that operate with the highest security requirements, e.g., the defence, the police, the defence industry, the Danish Prison and Probation Service and psychiatric facilities.
Undertaking projects that revolve around security calls for a deep understanding of the various security regimes and levels, including the human aspect. Therefore, we work closely together with our customers and technical security experts to define and map the need for, respectively, static and dynamic security and to support the physical settings of each project in the best possible manner.
We also strive to create settings that provide optimal support for the core service of the project as well as long-term, healthy operations. Through architecture, we ensure great conditions for all types of users in everything from prisons and jails to airports, public administration facilities, critical infrastructure and military facilities.
We recognise that the world needs to come together across traditional boundaries to safeguard the settings of a mixed portfolio of tasks and properties.
We work to create projects that are future-proof thanks to thought-through aesthetic solutions that can be adapted to future needs over time while integrating a human angle.
A holistic approach leads to robust settings
Even in projects where security is a primary task, many other aspects must be considered when designing a new project. At Arkitema, we always apply a holistic approach to our work; this means looking at all aspects of the future building and offering our customer strategic consultancy to arrive at the best results. This may involve everything from energy optimisation and the use of environmentally friendly materials to workflow design. Looking at the entire project, we assess all parameters of the future process. For instance, this includes implementing sustainability elements and how digitalisation can achieve an efficient process.
Since we always assess projects on a case-by-case basis, we also assess the immediate environment and any existing buildings. To that end, we also have a range of competencies within renovation and transformation that know how to use the value of existing building stock.
A good place to work
At Arkitema, we are deeply aware that we, as people and employees, are affected by the spaces we occupy and move about in. With that in mind, we endeavour to design optimum and attractive working conditions for our users. We design physical settings that offer human resources the best framework for collaboration, knowledge sharing, well-being and goal fulfilment.
We also prioritise creating buildings and areas that are easy to operate and provide a high level of security, allowing employees to focus on their core tasks in safe surroundings so they have the time and energy to develop their competencies. In other words, through architectural solutions, we can contribute to creating a workplace that attracts and retains employees.
Security specialists
When undertaking projects within defence, prisons and jails, the police and defence industry, or other industries with high security requirements, we must have a high security level within our own organisation as well. At Arkitema, several of our colleagues have security clearance at all levels, and as a company, we have the security features in place that enable us to contribute to all types of tasks that call for a high level of security, both static and dynamic.
We have experience and knowledge from our projects for the defence, the judicial system and the police, but we also rely on vast knowledge and insight from many other competencies in the business. So, daylight specialists, landscape architects and experience from health-related architecture can contribute to creating healing architecture promoting physical and mental well-being for all user groups, including, e.g., rehabilitation facilities for inmates and a stimulating working environment for employees. And our significant landscaping team can create a vibrant and welcoming environment inside and around the buildings.
