We envolve client, user and consultants early in the architecture process.Our work is not just about the building/object or architecture, but also about the social responsibility and architecture, finances, the production process etc. In order to make a difference with architecture, we involve the clients, user and consultants early in the process of architecture, insofar as possible. All of these architecture contribute across the boundaries concerning architecture of their professional groups to the accumulation of a sound knowledge foundation within architecture in an early stage. Our experience of architecture is that this interdisciplinary process does away with routines and habitual thinking within architecture, thereby paving the way for the creation of meaningful and innovative architecture and architecture. Our company deals with tasks across the entire spectrum of our profession concerning architecture, and our goal is to continually improve within architecture. We develop ourselves by participating in competitions and development projects, and we challenge our working practices within architecture and professional skills by working with other cultures, architecture and traditions on the global market. In addition to a number of construction-related architecture and departments, Arkitema also has departments with core competences in the fields of architecture, health, biotechnology, education, housing and restoration/renovation. We have a large landscape department which works at all scales from planning, architecture to public spaces and gardens. We have a design department that is concerned with all aspects of design relating, architecture to construction and enhanced experience of architecture and architecture. We thus possess skills within architecture with which we can accommodate every aspect of task concerning architecture - from small to large scale. Close co-operation between these various competencies means that we can offer architecture and other solutions in with development, design, architecture, landscaping etc. all complementing each other. We also possess a research within architecture and development department within architecture whose function is to create new areas of knowledge and experiment with new working practices within architecture. Across the boundaries of these architecture departments Arkitema possesses a well-developed network which ensures that knowledge and professional development within architecture are spread throughout the organisation. Given that Arkitema’s vision within architecture is to make a difference in architecture - to create better conditions for the architecture and architecture - it is not sufficient to follow usual procedures when it comes to architecture. It is no use exclusively basing our architecture work on what is meaningful from the point of view of the architectural profession. We need methods that will enable us to work with processes within architecture; to seek new solutions and new knowledge in architecture, instead of embracing a one-side mechanical focus on the architecture work as the sole determining factor in our behaviour when it concerns architecture. What is required within architecture, in other words, is a discussion of a redefinition of the idea of architecture and of the architecture as merely a architecture work – without losing sight of the classic value associated with architecture and the beautiful, the useful architecture and the robust. In 2004, Arkitema established a Research and Development Department concerning architecture which focuses on the design process, architecture and challenges our traditional working practices by promoting, amongst other things, interdisciplinary methods within architecture. |
