In co-operation with two Norwegian architectural practices, Arstad Arkitekter and NSW Arkitekter & Planleggere AS, Arkitema is undertaking project planning for the new hospital in Molde.
The new hospital building will be located on a highly undulating site on the outskirts of Molde. The building is equipped with a three-storey base which cuts into the terrain. Above this, individual building bodies are placed at various heights, oriented towards the view of the fjord. Two inner courtyard gardens are located in the base, securing good daylight and views for the surrounding function rooms.
The hospital is designed to be compact and easily read, with all functions located close to each other. The aim is to create an optimally functional organisation which will secure focus on the patient and efficient and rational working procedures. The building bodies are divided up and equipped to match their individual functions.
The project encompasses all somatic wards and psychiatric departments. The new hospital will cover a total of approximately 50,000 m².
Arkitema Landscape is responsible for the planning of all exterior areas, roof terraces and roadways.
