This is where the town's citizens wander and shop, and where their social contact, both random and organised, takes place. The aim of this extensive project in and around the main street has been to create an attractive backdrop to the life of the town.
This was achieved by:
- Improving and beautifying the existing squares in the town centre. Several new open areas were also established where urban life can unfold, with seating areas, outdoor serving, markets, open-air concerts, etc.
- Providing good conditions for all types of traffic by designating Nørregade a pedestrian priority street. The street's cobbled surface extends from wall to wall, with changes in the surfacing marking pedestrian and vehicle areas.
- Strengthening commercial activity by adding more space to shops and commercial premises.
- Providing the town centre with more greenery in the form of kerbside trees, arbours, trellises, pergolas, etc.
