Arkidemiet - "The Arkidemy"
Arkitema's vision of creating architecture for 21st century people requires that we continually develop our skills to confront the challenges we encounter in the world around us. The overall goal of Arkidemiet, Arkitema's internal education portal, is to meet this need and render us capable of thinking and acting differently today than we did yesterday. Arkidemiet offers internal courses of professional education and training which are improved, adapted and developed on an ongoing basis.
Skills
The starting-point for our planning of courses of further training is the annual staff development interviews, which is where the individual staff development plans are formulated. The following skills comprise the cornerstones, not merely of the training programmes, but of the whole process of skills enhancement and professional development at Arkitema:
- Creative and innovative skills – because these are fundamental to the ability to create new knowledge by transferring what has been learned to a new context.
- Learning skills – because these are fundamental to the creation and sharing of knowledge, and are a prerequisite for the development of our other skills.
- Social skills – because these enable us to co-operate in mutually beneficial and constructive relations, both in our internal and external networks.
- Communications skills – because dialogue is a key factor in our knowledge sharing, and because it forms the basis for our ability to develop new knowledge and common practices through differences in opinions and attitudes. The design process, as a working method, places further demands on these skills.
- Self-management skills – because these are necessary to permit decentralisation, for example in the organisation and execution of our tasks. Our wish for a flat organisational structure presupposes that self-management is practised throughout the company. Decisions should be taken at the lowest possible level in the organisation.
