We are Landscape!

Urban Spaces & Landscape Design is part of Arkitema Planning & Landscape, one of Denmark's largest planning and landscape practices, based in Aarhus and Copenhagen.

We are a young and inquisitive specialty, established in May 2007, which focuses on creating innovative architecture which, in a fruitful interdisciplinary interplay between planning, buildings and landscape, produces the greatest possible value and meaning for the users. We work with visions, plans, ideas, analyses and programmes, and we design urban spaces and landscapes.

Our ambition, from the very first pencil stroke, is to capture all of the architecture scales from urban buildings and landscapes to the detailing of the overall area, and ensure that there is a wholeness and harmony in every aspect of the urban and landscape qualities.

In both town and countryside, it is the mutual relationship between several significant qualities, values and potentials - social, ecological, aesthetic and economic - which form the identities and activities of the place and the users.

The design of urban spaces, squares, open spaces, courtyards and parks is one of our core competencies. We concentrate on making outdoor areas experientially rich and sensuous, and at the same time flexible and multi-purpose.

Our goal is to create attractive, lively and diverse towns and landscapes, in ongoing dialogue with the clients and users, and other players from the worlds of art, traffic studies, sociology, the environment, film and media.

We are collaborating closely with the Aarhus School of Architecture in a project on sustainability, as well as with the Forest & Landscape department of the University of Copenhagen, where we have a Business PhD research project on the health-related aspects of outdoor environments.
