Culture
Culture can be many things. It might be taking a swim, visiting an art museum or seeing a newly-restored building. Culture is part of human history; we have always needed to survive, but at the same time, we also had a need to express other aspects of life – to be challenged mentally, physically or spiritually.
Culture today is a challenge – a project for the modern person. Not just a space that arises between work and home life. We find our identity in communities centred on ball games, art, dogs, horses or loud music.
At Arkitema, we work consciously with the human being as a social entity. When we design buildings for "cultural" activities, we design much more than just spaces to hold excess time. We view cultural spaces as important contributors towards a meaningful life, and we therefore design buildings which INSIST on a dialogue with their users.
