LandCROSS is a new master plan for a sustainable business park; a landmark situated at a motorway intersection, and consequently a 'LandCROSS'. The business park will be visible to many people, even if they are just driving past at speed on the motorway.
The site borders a wooded area which forms the fundamental motif of the project: with its verdant wedges, planted roofs and numerous trees, the development continues the green motif and integrates it as an architectural element. The new business park will seem to lie in the middle of a forest; as though it had wedged itself in between the trunks and leafy crowns of the trees.
The business park consists of five elongated buildings, which break up the spaces and create direction and dynamics as they meet and depart from each other, respectively. The elongated form and orientation of the buildings is emphasised in the landscaping, in which reflecting pools and surfaces are drawn out into the surrounding landscape, thereby binding together the surroundings and the buildings. Transversely between the buildings, we have established light steel bridges which will link the elongated building components together to form a whole. The steel bridges secure flexibility to facilitate future extensions, and will also contain common functions such as canteens and meeting-rooms.
