Brygmestergaarden relates to the nearby developments on Sandgade and Thorsgade, respectively, and adds a modern dimension to the classic regularity that already characterises the area. Towards Sandgade the building's height and facade are adapted to the neighbouring building and the street's general character, with modernist-inspired residential property. An archway leads from Sandgade into the development's pleasant courtyard garden, which is accessible by all residents of the property.
Towards Thorsgade the building takes its inspiration from the more varied character of the neighbouring properties: a small, neoclassical vernacular house and the nearby Jesu Hjerte church.
The development rises to a height of five storeys along Sandgade, and falls again to three storeys towards the neighbouring property in Thorsgade, thereby creating a varied expression with distinctive stairwell towers that divide the building into smaller units.
The development's sophisticated facade expression arises in an interplay between several different materials: the base, the building's ground floor, is in grey, water-struck brick which is drawn up into the stairwells. This helps to lend variation to the facade along Thorsgade in relation to the bright facade panel which delineates the building's precise form above the ground floor.
Slender balconies of high-strength concrete give the building a sculptural expression with a fine play of light and shadow. The large glass panels which provide the residents with plentiful views, light and air are recessed deeply into the facade, thereby giving the building further character.
